If Lando is close to VER after first run (one on scrubbed soft) he may be able to get pole on his last lap on fully new tires.

Lando Norris just did under 2 tenths with used tyres. Are they used or kind of new?
That is his soft he did an outlap/inlap without a hotlap. Relatively new.

If I got what Lando was saying on the radio he didn't want to go out second time and ended up scrubbing his new tire both time. I guess team is very co nservative after Q1 failure in Las Vegas.
Seems thar most did tge first runs on used softs, so had to be careful depending on the improvement. Can see why they covered it.

As long as he does a faultless lap for once and nothing happens.

Agree, they played safe with both cars in Q1 and Q2. Glad that they learned something from Las Vegas. Here is good to have a proper 1st run in Q cause you may have a red flag or something and you'll not be able to have a second chance (like happened to Lando with Alonso in Mexico).

Used soft for Lando and also for Oscar for 1st run in Q3. I think Max will have two runs on new softs.

4 tenths again for used tyres vs new tyres and there is a huge difference between used tyres and new tyres. Hopefully now that both use new tyres they get that pole. They are very close.

Happy to see Oscar keeping the pace with Lando.

This is not a true used tyre for Lando. It is just a scrubbed one.

Great lap by Piastri.

If Norris has done three laps and they’ve said he was on used for two of them, when were they used? I have a feeling the tyres were just used in an outlap and then come back in, so I don’t think we’ll see a five tenth gain or anything like that. Maybe 2 tenths

Come on Lando Norris. What was that? Two huge mistakes that again costed a pole position. Two mistakes that costed half a second.

I think he should just go for new softs at the first lap each Q3 cause he tends to screw those laps that count.

Another for the Lando mistake brigade....

Probably pushing a bit much, though Oscar also yellow in p3, did he make a mistake aswell?

Lando was down on Max after s2, so understand why he was pushing.

On another note there is also the possibility that Red Bull is simply more forgiving to someone driving on the limit than the Mclaren so those mistakes might be expected. Mclaren is a hard car to drive compared to the easy Red Bull.

Team says Oscar mistake on last corner, but unlikely to have been ahead of Leclerc
