Vodaphone McLaren Mercedes MP4-24

You two want to stop flirting and get a room. Please leave the thread to it's purpose - there's enough of this crap elsewhere, so take it there please.

re: astracrazy (where they were directing the air)

So the new front wing has air vents - I assume this lowers where the air comes off the front wing. They also reverted back to last year's front break duct / hub, which comparing the two, also looks like it might cause the air flow to be lower. Seemingly before these updates, there was the issue with lack of downforce at the rear of the car, and now it's not so bad. Perhaps the air flow coming off the front of the car may well have been too high, and something as simple as this might have made all the difference.

Stop arguing, or Ciro will come and stop you.

There are dickheads everywhere in life, and if you are able to deal with them, and not just 'feed the troll" you will do much better.

Learn to not take things personally from users, and you won't feel the need to freak out and call names in forums.

You will notice that Islamatron doesn't call people names, but you let him get to you, which resorts to the breakdown we are witnessing.

If what he's says bothers you so much, don't read it, or don't respond.

I read a while back when Brawn switched from a 3-element front wing to a 2-element, one of the reasons was because it made the adjustment mechanism more effective. Perhaps that is one of the reasons behind McLaren going from 4 elements to 3. The most rearward section is quite large, kind of traditional latley with McLaren generally using quite small main plane sections.

I have a question; using those small main plane sections, and there generally used at what appears to be a negative angle of incidence, does this make that section of the wing function more like a wing (generating downforce) or more like a splitter (directing air)??? I'm aware that overall wing angle needs to be taken over all elements of the wing, but does a small plane at a negative angle of attack have a secondary function??? Or am I just talking --- here???

I would apreciate if someone could straighten me out on that one...

From what you've been saying I think the front wing is a very big step forward. Maybe this is the real reason why Kovi raced with the old floor/diffuser- to assess the performance of the new front with the existing rear. Seemed like there was an improvement, just with this front wing fitted.

Sweet undertray pic. I guess "flat floor" is a relative term. Seems a bit contoured to me. I wonder if there is some tolerance range that is allowed? Nice VG detail on the outer leading edge.

Rumours of a modified rear wing and small update to front wing, and possibly shark fin.

Can't validate it though.

Please dont have a shark fin, they look terrible.
I think Mclaren are the only team never to have had a shrk fin, or am I wrong about that.

They tested one before the German Grand Prix last year, but I don't believe it was used in any races.

Looking at that pic makes me glad the OWG cleaned up the rules. I'm loving the look of the cars these days. Even BMW's Zambezi shark looking thing.

EDIT: maybe not the Renault
