Don`t get into too much enthusiasmus for Baku. My experience tells me the upper side of the car will stay the same, only floor change. But that doesn`t mean that there is not half a second on the table.

Interesting to see - it tells a lot.

McLaren slowest on the straights in FP1 and 14kph less than we did during the tests last week. Surely that points to running heavy/detuned?

Good to hear that. Some positive green shoots. I sincerely hope we are better than what has appeared. Coupled that with the Baku noises, we’ve got something to hold on to

Hmmm...there is a chart in the Ferrari forums on here that shows something different

EDIT: I now see that chart says "max speed on straight during quickest lap of each team", which is where McLaren was slowest

Initial thoughts going in to fp2: car definitely has more drag, but is running more wing... besides that, big losses come from:

turn 8: car understeers mid corner, initial entry into corner is usually deep.

turn 9-10: drivers have been experimenting with different lines, but cant carry speed through 9 to set up rotation into 10.

Car is better in slow speed than Aston Martin/RB. That bodes well for some tracks in particular

It may not necessary be a bad thing if they are slowest on the straights but OK on corners.
They can see where the problem is and possibly tune it out, and they gain more time being fast in the corners in a real car v car race.
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

At what point do we get nervous about the gap between Lando and Oscar? 0.8s in FP1 and FP2 so far on the same tires (yes yes I know super early BUT....)
