I think Bomber_Pilot is about right with what will happen.

I think we are looking at a Honda to Brawn or BMW to Sauber type situation with a management buyout and scaling back of the team.
I'd say that's the only way some of the people at the top keep their jobs. I can't see a 3rd party buying the team, without Marko, Horner, & maybe Newey being shown the door. They have a lot of baggage related to the negativity of the last 2 years, and I think a new owner would want a clean slate.

What odds would you give on McLaren luring Newey back??
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Slim to none, as Newey is not a fan of the new regulations

Red Bull hasn't pulled out yet, they want to stay in the sport. They finally have come to the realization that they will have to accept what they get and not dictate what they get. It will likely be a 2015 Ferrari unit if I were to guess.

I think you'd have to be off your rocker to buy RBR and let Horner go. He is the key to their success, perhaps even more so than Newey.

Renault does not want to deliver, Ferrari does not want to deliver, Mercedes does not want to deliver, Honda wants to deliver but can't. Rebatched Renault engines do not seem to be an option, Matechitz made that very clear that he does not want to go back to Renault, so what options are out there? None.

Enjoy the last couple of races from them, guys.
Why is it not an option to use the year old Ferrari engines they've been offered (same as TR)? Not saying it's ideal but it's probably still more competitive than next year's Renault or Honda.

It's 100% definitely more competitive than no engine at all...

I think that the Cosworth V6 engine that is supposedly sitting on a dusty shelf somewhere, waiting for an injection of funds to develop it, could be Red Bulls only hope.

It's a very dusty virtual shelf, the Cosworth v6 never made it out of cad.

They developed their own KERS system in the V8 era, but I don't know if they continued to do so into the V6 era.
Yeah Im not sure about this either - it wouldn't make much sense for RBR to develop the ERS systems in isolation to the Renault ICE.

Renault seem to be taking credit for the entire system here:

Earlier in this thread I linked to an interview with Horner where he stated that RBR would make the battery for the ERS, as one example of the intensified collaboration on the PU front.

I thought I had read that Cosworth started the development of a V6 F1 engine back in 2010, and have kept tinkering with the concept on a very slow burner so that a return to F1 could happen if they found a partner to fund the development further

Well if TJ13 is correct on this, Red Bull have secured an engine for 2016.
They will also develop the ERS, and co-own the intellectual property of the ICE to be developed by Ilien at Red Bull's building 9(Turbo... where you at bruv)
In effect 2 development programmes will run parallel with Renault.
Badging is mooted as Infiniti.

The whole reason they played this game was so they could get co-ownership of the Intellectual property. As far as conduct goes, ... was it worth it?

Here's the piece anyway.

If it gives RBR control over their own destiny and the ability to compete as a de-facto OEM, instead of merely a customer, then imo this is a fantastic outcome for them!

Would love it if is true.

Hope it is still badged a Renault. 2 specs of Renault made by 2 different entries works just fine for the complexity of F1.

[Further, it has been agreed between the parties that Red Bull will be able to develop the ICE further in their building 9 complex, without reference to Renault, and that intellectual property of the base unit as it stands now, is jointly owned. Disagreements between Renault and RBR over the intellectual property of the ‘co-developed’ PU has been the reason RBR have been desperately seeking a temporary engine partner for 2016. These matters appear to be now resolved.]
Geeze, I can't imagine why engine manufacturers might be hesitant to supply a would-be rival engine manufacturer with anything beyond the time of day. It's as if this is all some sort of competition.
The Telegraph, October 13, 2015 wrote:“We’re possibly going to be forced out of Formula One - Mercedes and Ferrari have refused to supply us out of fear,” Newey told Reuters
I have a very different definition of "forced."
