Rob Wilson - driver coach?

Rob says that Alonso gets the traction, then moves over. Is it perhaps that Rob Wilson and Peter Windsor are misunderstanding each other? Rob perhaps means to move over as soon as you're on full throttle, while Peter Windsor takes it as only moving across in the last 200m?

Yeah, it would make sense. Overall his message is don't force the car. I don't think he's too formulaic about everything else.

Yeah, whereas the Peter Windsor thing of only moving across when you're ready to brake makes no sense to me.

Button's onboards in Abu-Dhabi when he was following Alonso closely were really interesting to note differences in their style.

Maldonado too. It would be interesting to see Maldonado/Raikkonen vs Alonso/Button onboards - Raikkonen/Maldonado being the ones that Rob praises as his model students (in terms of a single hot lap)

Actually, quite interesting that Perez (though he is never mentioned as Rob Wilson's pupil) actually does stick to the right of the road at the exit of Ascari, right up to the braking zone of Parabolica.

Another interesting find. It's about how Rob was approached to evaluate an up-and-coming driver. The driver itself is not the important part of my finding, but I find his observations (at the bottom of the page) to be quite interesting - because they obviously shed some light on what he feels are proper do's and don'ts - in the context of this young driver, at least.

Yes, very interesting - especially considering Kimi seems to be his favorite pupil.

I have to say, it is hard to picture Kimi "i know what i'm doing" Raikonnen, being a huge listener these days, perhaps when he was getting started?

It is about a young driver who hasn't been racing on a big center at this point... so lack of polish is to be expected.
The topics.
1) Not very smooth.
2) needs to improve under braking, proper trail braking perhaps?
3) Not really a factor into F1, but his heel-n-toe, punta-taco, timing is off...
4) again not transitioning correctly into acceleration (warning the car?), of course if you get the entry wrong it's hard to have the car where you want it to be by the apex.
5)Apparently the guy figured out "shortening the corner" pretty quick interesting.
6) seems like a general point...

I have to say - I've had the good fortune of speaking with Kimi in the past. He is no bullshit, as they all say. But one thing I cannot say is that he is a bad listener. Based on the two separate occasions I spoke to him, my personal view is that he hates media work, and has a hard time (or doesn't try to) conceal it. But on a personal level, he is certainly a lot more personable.

I think most drivers are, I remember something similar (not quite as epic though) from Alonso, Kubica, Hamilton.

It happened during 2008 British GP qualifying, can't remember what were the words exactly, something like race engineer warning him not to crash out or doubting he can improve and Kubica very firmly demanding him not to say such things No rude words though, and I can understand him
