Williams FW35 Renault

How can holes' protrude' from a nut?

If I remember correctly, the reason that the RBR solution was banned, was because it had an aero effect. So what is different with the Williams copy?

Blown wheelnuts: RBRs idea was banned as the openings were outboard of the wheelnut, which contravened the rules that banned wheel fairings

Blown Wheelnuts: Williams have now followed the idea, but the opening is flush with the wheelnut in order to be legal

wow look how much space is left around the gearbox! that area usually has bodywork, can they design fins and generators there instead?

They are even testing the stepped nose today. That's all 3 we've seen!

Hopefully the data the are collecting proves the windtunnel & CFD is sound for this year's car.

They are certainly being through with the noses.

The monkey seat was removed from the car today.

Can anyone explain how the 'blown wheelnut' works? Does it extract and vent hot air from the brakes, routing the air outside of the wheel, vs inside it?

Carbon, while I have not seen the system in real life yet (I'll pay attention to it next week), it looks to me like it's identical to the Red Bull system of last year, except that the air exits outside of the wheel rim, through openings all around the wheel nut.

Red Bull's system was outlawed because it features holes in the wheel's axis.
