Do you have a source for that? Autosport corrected themselves on his first quick run, but on the later, faster quick run they have not corrected anything.khaliweed wrote:Definately there is an error. Those were the SOFTS that Hamilton used.
at least BENSON tells thatkhaliweed wrote:Definately there is an error. Those were the SOFTS that Hamilton used.

Pirelli have confirmed what they mean by prototype. They're identical to the 2013 soft tyres they've just been made at their backup facility. So they're just testing the quality of those tyres, there's no advantage to be had. That was a quick time.diemaster wrote:hamilton is using prototype tyres
The most we know is that it's significantly quicker than last year's car (at least 2.8 seconds quicker) around Barcelona.Nando wrote:I wonder...have we found a diamond in the dirt here or is it simply low fuel runs and everyone else is running medium to high loads?
Not saying it´s that much quicker then other cars but more wondering if we have a genuinely quick car here.
4 others teams who looks better then Merc in same conditions, also teams who already had better base car then Merc from previous year. Mercedes defintely wont get in Australia to win pole, you dont rid of 1.1 second gap over 2 months of winter, if that was case, caterham would be on pole in melbournebeelsebob wrote: Do we? What tells you that?
I think new tires are playing quite a big role in that performance jump too.beelsebob wrote:The most we know is that it's significantly quicker than last year's car (at least 2.8 seconds quicker) around Barcelona.
We can probably extrapolate a bit more from that – we know the top teams tend to gain about 1-1.5 seconds a lap between years, so we can reasonably say that the Merc is likely right up there with the top teams, but probably not ahead of them.
possible is to car are generally quick, and they find perfect set upNando wrote:I wonder...have we found a diamond in the dirt here or is it simply low fuel runs and everyone else is running medium to high loads?

Do they? By what metric are you judging that?Neno wrote:4 others teams who looks better then Merc in same conditions, beelsebob wrote: Do we? What tells you that?
Don't you? Brawn sure did, so have many other teams in the past.also teams who already had better base car then Merc from previous year. Mercedes defintely wont get in Australia to win pole, you dont rid of 1.1 second gap over 2 months of winter,
Last I checked, Caterham weren't only 1.1 seconds off pole in melbourne last year. That said, there's no reason why Caterham couldn't have made up 1.1 seconds... If they have, they might just have joined the back of the pack. It doesn't look particularly like they have though.if that was case, caterham would be on pole in melbourne
Be a little analytical, and look at the evidence in front of you, rather than just saying "it can't be true".Be a little bit realistic
