Any ideas why driveshafts and gearbox aren't covered? Adding covers later on would surely change the aero readings...

Here's one: a cylinder spinning in that direction at that orientation will generate downforce (look up Kutta–Joukowski lift). It also generates a bunch of turbulence which in previous seasons would have ruined the beam wing's downforce-producing potential: no longer a problem in 2014.

If this is what they are doing then upper-wishbones will evolve across the season to try and reduce the drag of the resultant vortex sheet.

The FW36 looks like a very nice package. The nose is much more stylish than its competitors. It does however appear that the rear suspension is one of the lowest on the grid so far.

They haven't used them in the past so it's a conscious decision of some kind.

I'm liking the SDN design, the underside seems to have a similar "keel" like shape to the RB10 and I'm guessing will cause the air to accelerate as it rejoins under the nose?

Looks like they've mounted the electronic cockpit display directly onto the chassis instead of the steering wheel, like Red Bull

It can still change, but that would mean that they aren't going for the new display option, it would be hard to see behind the wheel.

It is a large undercut! Although the front of the sidepod follows the traditional William shape, we've not seen them be this adventurous before. It will be interesting to see the packaging within the sidepods. I guess they are perhaps trading CoG for aerodynamic gain?
