The speed traps recorded during qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix show more or less the same ranking order as in 2015. While Force India and Williams continue to be among the fastest in a straight line, McLaren are still at the bottom of the charts.
Manor's times are faster than every other team, barring Mercedes, from Q1 last year, and they're still last!
FP3 is far more important this year though, considering the reserve order rule, so I guess we might end up seeing representative qualifying times in FP3 quite often.
ollandos wrote:very impressive lap times from alonso i think mclaren is on torro rosso level ....little back from red bull....probably red bull car is the best and can win but no with this engine ..with ferrari 2016 engine red bull can beat mercedes....force india is around this group with williams the best of the rest and very very close to ferrari .....ferrari is not the best ...still behind silver arrows little closer but clear behind.....
mercedes
ferrari 0-0.5sec
williamw 0.2-0.750sec
red bull 0.4-0.900sec
force india 0.4-0.900sec
toro rosso 0.6-1.2sec
mclaren 0.7-1.3sec
and for mclaren ..look like the rear of the car little unstable ...if can fix the set up and take the best of that they have from engine can find some time....if honda can find 40-50hp more can fight for wins
I really wonder how can you make such sharp conclusions from those FP1 and FP2...really astonishing.
some top team should hire you.
except torro rosso my prediction is a clear picture of fp3 .......where is my job?? ......
practice..... how about you wait a couple hours till after qualifying before you pat yourself on the back lol.... More than likely Mercedes will activate the old Quali mode... what does the Ferrari new Quali mode look like? .. Torro Rosso will be more than likely between 6th and 10th. you do have to keep in mind that Sainz did his run on a more rubbered in track about 15 mins Ferrari had ran and about 10 mins after Mercedes did their quali sim.
interesting Vettel lost 2 tenths in sector 3 which happens to be where he had a pretty big lockup at the second to last corner.
he was faster than hamilton in sector 2 and .050 slower in sector 1 . is Quali here yet? =D>
I might be out on a limb here, but i wouldnt be surprised if Mercedes hasnt shown their hand yet. To be fair, probably neither Ferrari, but IMO the big question is how much more they can irk out with the engine in qualy mode.
I'll say it again; with the grid perhaps maybe being closest again since 2 seasons, what a damn pitty it would be to have that new qualy mode ruin a genuine close competition....
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II #Team44 supporter
