Re: CFD - PERRINN F1 Car (w/ spec mods)

Post

Hi all,

Some question to creators of this topic, who did some magnificent job:
I am doing quite the same, meaning trying to run a CFD for PERRINN model for my MSc. Even got approval to use some dedicated workstation at work for this process.

Yet, I am having trouble simplifying geometry. Especially sidepods and curvature around side intakes is causing a lot of trouble, even when I trie to merge it all. SpaceClaim and Fluent + Inventor in use and can't figure aut how to go around it, besides redrawing whole model.
Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

We also had a lot of issues cleaning the car up for CFD. It just takes time to get to a useable state.

Thats some wonderfull work done here! Thank you guys very much! I wish there would be something like that available about the era of 1996-2006, as i am working on a book about this era!

Otherwise, sounds good, I think it will yield some really interesting results.
Alrighty, I've built the CFD method up now, so I will document the exact values etc. that I used for each of the frame references and boundary conditions (100m corner radius @ 50m/s), and then give it a shot at implementing it over the weekend with some CAD updates... again, depending on my free time #-o

Took me a couple hours to figure out the correct reference frames and BCs to use in the ANSYS environment, but hey - I made a rainbow

Thanks heaps for the tip mate, really cool to add this to my tool belt of things I can do

Hi, I am doing my thesis on a cfd analysis of a wing and I would like to know how to implement on ansys fluent the moving reference frame and the correct boundary conditions as you did with the cuboid domain. I am new to cfd and am learning as I go.
