They were already good here last year, and they have recently improved a lot, this is a great chance indeed!

Max in the wall.

Are you allowed to reverse onto the track, even under yellow/red flags? Something in my head tells me 'no' but I suppose it's much of a muchness here and otherwise it would mean trying to drive over the front wing.

As long as you return to the track safety, I don't think there is any issue. If it was during an actual Grand Prix, it might be different.

I’m not surprised, not because Max isn’t an excellent driver, but the RB16 is clearly a difficult car on the limit.

So, the info from FP1 says it's not the whole PU mode ban, it's the ICE mode ban. So teams can still work on MGU-K?

From what has been described, the ICE Modes are essentially locked in from Qualifying through the Race under Parc Fermé... but they can deploy their ERS as they wish it seems, like deployment and using the overtake button.

The chicanes could be tricky for a twitchy car going flat out.

Now that's an interesting situation. If teams could convince FIA of raising the power limit of MGU-K then it's possible for them to find back some of the pace lost due to the mode ban. I don't know how much MGU-H is feeding K, but now it looks like it's going to feed K a lot more than it used to do. K is gonna have a lot more battery to work on, so maybe a power limit raise could be possible?

Bottas has a decent pace advantage in FP1, let's see if he keeps this form going.

He got a tow, that's his pace advantage.

I'm at work so didn't see it, I think Bottas has choice of when to run as well this weekend.

He's been ahead in a few practices this season but has only qualified twice and finished once in front of Hamilton from seven races, so while this weekend might turn out different, it's probably not worth reading much into it at all.

Prior to the Quali-mode cut, I assumed Mercedes would go out first in Q3 and do two runs, taking tow turns.

Now, I wonder if they can afford to do that? If not, any idea how we'll avoid the fiasco of the last Monza Q3? Apologies if this has been covered.
