Never understood the hype about rain in qualifying. The lap times are already extremely close in dry conditions, and rain usually just separates the lap times even more.
Rain today also means that we will miss out on a new track record.
2 drivers have died at Spa in the last 5 years or so. If there's any current f1 track at which to be cautious with conditions, this is it.erudite450 wrote: β27 Jul 2024, 15:00The F2 sprint race has been postponed. I don't watch the sports to see a driver get hurt but I have to say that the race directors are being increasingly cautious, too cautious in my opinion. F1 circuits are mostly safe, the driving level is as good as ever so what's the hesitation with allowing drivers go out on track?

Most people prefer unexpected results (especially if it's light rain or changeable conditions), than new track record which is mostly meaningles stat.
I can totally understand that, but I really like the technical aspect of this sport, especially lap times and cornering speeds. For me personally, a new track record is definitely not meaningless.renault rs26 wrote: β27 Jul 2024, 15:39Most people prefer unexpected results (especially if it's light rain or changeable conditions), than new track record which is mostly meaningles stat.
We had few very exciting wet Qs this season. Seems like this is more like SPA issue rather than rain isssue.
That is the objective take, but people are usually don't work like that.
There are 24 races and usually if a car is good at some of then it's good an all and then seeing same results over and over again is bring. And if cars beat track record it probably mean they'd beat it at other track too so we can assume that don't need to see iz at expense of an excitement.f1onions wrote: β27 Jul 2024, 15:47I can totally understand that, but I really like the technical aspect of this sport, especially lap times and cornering speeds. I think they postponed that race because if it started, it is likely it would interfere with F1 qualifying.erudite450 wrote: β27 Jul 2024, 15:00The F2 sprint race has been postponed.
