Funny this WB, how you continue to exclude BMW from your list of F1's "big spenders"? :D

Well the budget cap and points system have both been recieved very badly by the last three WDC drivers, Hamilton, Alonso and Schumacher.

Hamilton hits out at rule changes http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsp ... 954755.stm

Alonso adds voice against new FIA rule changes http://www.f1technical.net/news/11837

Schumi "astonished" by new rule changes http://www.f1technical.net/news/11840

Slammed by the drivers, slammed by the fans, slammed by the teams.. WTF is the FIAsco and Bernie doing? :wtf: #-o

I can state exactly what they are doing. Bernie is removing any argument against raising revenue to the teams. Now that this proposal has been placed, he has the argument that if they accept and follow the 30 mil cap scheme, present revenue structure is adequate and proportional.
What Max is doing is what he loves to do, challenge and beat down any opposition (FOTA), secure an even stronger power base, and give Bernie such a gift that most likely Mr Ecclestone will feel once again obligated to donate a few million to Max's personal account.

Much as I personally dislike both Max and Bernie, I have to grudgingly admit that this proposal is a mark of genius. It's an incredibally brilliant piece of true Machiavellian manipulation.

The more I think about budget cap, the more I see that it is ABSOLUTELY unreachable for current F-1 teams by 2010.
$50 mil per year means dramatic reduction of personnel because with 500 employees it is 100 hundred per year per member. Not too much I must say.
So I guess it is only feasible with less than 200-150.
Now, remember that Honda has to finance Brown to prevent penalty because of work contract terminations.
So I think that the figure is unreachable and ridiculous for current teams, except maybe TR and FI, and because of that I don't think it is serious threat for FOTA.

I wonder maybe this is USGP lobby?

I believe this is more to do with politics than the interests of F1.

I laughed to hard when I read this and thought "Perhaps Ben was taking a S... that year." And Kimi was in the next stall when reached for an interview. :D

It's easy to counter that. All teams go on strike and even pull out of the championship for a year. See what happens then. They might lose the 50 mill entry fee, but to heck with that when you can't do business with these idiots it's a price worth paying.

If you were a businessman and had to deal with the complexities of starting a brand new Formula One team, which business model would you choose? To budget within a fixed cap where parity is guaranteed, or to spend, spend, spend where parity is not guaranteed?
I doubt that when Max crafted his proposal that he had USGP in mind, but I'm sure that the people at USGP are smiling.

That's why I wondered...

Very true.
However, the prospect of "equalization" of performance of single team against the pack is bullsh*t.

Proposal? I thought they voted for it already? Doesn't mean they will not change it :D

Haha this made my day. So i guess the correct phrase should be "have both been recieved very badly by the last three capable of speech WDC drivers"
