look at the undercut on the sidepod. The mid-wing by all means has been reduced to a very short appendage.
no just look at the mirror mount it's the same

Midwing is gone. Anti-dive front suspension geometry.
no midwing is there

Look at the undercut of the sidepod.

The mirror mount is the same because the SIS is still in the same place.

Looks to me they have kept the mid wing but have opened up the sidepod intake to join onto the underside of the mid wing. There seems to be a joint at the interface between the mid-wing and the side pod intake.

it looks more like an overcut/ overbite with midwing being the upper lip of the sidepod entry and positioned further ahead

Hopefully this makes sense.
100% the midwing is still there

No, that sounds like a predawn conclusion that's not supported by the single image we have. It appears to be more integrated along the top of the sidepod but it's certainly there including the little vertical flow conditioner.

To me it looks like this bit here:

Image

might be the little winglet that hangs off the mid wing, only expanded in size, it also appears to be in the same position as previously.

Assuming that it is that winglet, then it would give a hint as to how wide the inlet might be (not as wide as zioture drew it):

Image

Another detail: the "mirror mount" strakes aren't present, but those could be mounting points for something?

Re: Mercedes W14

Looks like the mid-wing blends into the sidepod inlet which is how they're getting around section rules. A large overbite now so the mid-wing isn't really there now

I know.

It just appears to be bigger, the point i made was that it could be used to estimate the frontal sidepod (inlet) width.

Isn't that just an image edit to simulate ? They didn't edit the Petronas stripe reflection in the back side of the wheel cowl/brake duct (it remains the same on both sides) and being the principal giveaway to the edit :D

More effort needed to falsifying an image than they wished to apply.

So it's a blend. Basically, a more rounded horizontal rectangle opening under the mid-wing, instead of a sharp vertical rectangular opening under the mid-wing. Nice!

That was one idea that I was mulling. Add the downwash wing in front of that and it might be what we're looking at.

Re: Mercedes W14

The main difference at the front is flow conditioning on top of the floor, they wanted to keep all of the airflow going down the undercut and to the rear. Mid wing looks to be a winglet now, so they are relaying on its vorticity for some downstream flow conditioning.

The really interesting bit will be the rear end, whether they went for downwash or kept the inwash.

And they call it a stall. A STALL!
