Ferrari SF23

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

2022 mid/high downforce wing spec also with single pylon. The 2-pylon spec must be there for spare parts then.

The track did speed up a lot with new configuration, so it's possible maximum downforce is no longer needed. Front left tyre will suffer the most and the track is not rear limited in this new configuration at all. So, you don't need as much rear loading now, making it possible to cut some rear downforce and drag.

Also, as expected, no downwash sidepods. Nugnes strikes out again  Front wing with the same load as Monaco, unsurprisingly.

And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Do you think possible that they are configuring two cars with different setup and components?

Maybe one with the old RW/rear-suspensions/sidepods/floor/mirrors  and the other with the new ones for a more effective comparison.

That would give excellent corellation/data analysis, along with the data set from last year (it was pretty rapid that weekend) to produce a lot of valid comparison for the team.
Benchmarked against RB performance data over two iteration as well. That would seem a cost effective exercise, given that they've a little more breathing space in the FP here vs Monaco too.

Can't be sure if those are the new pods, but there's some different fins here.

If that’s the case, can’t be a huge change if the car can be reconfigured overnight.

Seems to me the sidepod cooling layout is similar so maybe just changes to the sidepod trailing edge and maybe undercut treatment.

Also, I understand doing A - B testing, but seems almost due to lack of confidence in their analytical tools than anything else. They seem to do this a lot and wastes an opportunity to get set-up learning across two cars. For comparison, Merc ran both cars in updated configuration last race with no back-to-back testing.

Yes, louvres area seems convex. Possibly leading to cannon-shaped exit?

I bet all that the waterslides are not disappearing, then most probably they will transform the shape more like AM/Mercedes. Impossible for FERRARI concept to get completely rid of it
