Beautiful picture that nicely shows the lie that F1 is trying to become "green". So much wasted energy to light up a circuit just so Bernie can have night time entertainment...
I have it on good authority that the lighting is powered by batteries charged with solar power during the day. Although a quich google search has provided no confirmation of this.
I don't have my working out with me, but I do remember that Singapore uses 6 tons of diesel for the entire weekend with their generators & back up generators working to 60% load, including the concerts, paddock lighting etc. I couldn't find any information for Abu Dhabi's lighting & power consumtion and forgot that Sakir is also illuminated this year. Isn't the fuel the F1 cars are saving this year around 21 tons? It is still insignificant compared to flying from Sepang to Sakir to Shanghai. I assume sea freight for the teams will be split into at least two groups - Europe-Melbourne-Bahrain & Europe- Sepang - Shanghai? :)

Is Williams saving engines already? Very little running with no apparent problem...

Without a front wing perhaps :)
Another foot, and the AoA on the front wing would mean it would not be doing much at all. Meanwhile, the pressure build up under the car, and the drag on the large area of floor exposed would be getting close to exceeding that little work that it does do.
I can' just think of more f1 cars flipping without a front wing than with a front wing. That's all

Of course – that's because the front wing makes it very hard for the nose to get 1 foot higher than you see in this picture.

Red bull look like they could struggle here a lot. If any of the cars around get a drs onto them they'll be dusted down the straight.

Agreed. It would be interesting to see their sector times and speed trap with and without the front wing cascades.

Ted Kravitz mentioned during FP1 that Ferrari and McLaren already changed their gear ratios, is this true, any other sources?

Do you guys like this track in the night racing mode? I doubt there were many fans of this circuit, but IMO it has some sort of middle-of-the-desert "bedouin" vibe when it is flooded with sun. In the night it looks like Abu-Dhabi lite.

I guess all teams are worried about making the 5 engines last all season

Last year the lack of running was about saving tires so they now get a spare set for FP1, now they're worried about running up the mileage unnecessarily

Hmmm, Rosberg again, qiuet a bit behind Hamilton's pace. Not a good sign. :( Bahrain, should be a "Rosberg" track on paper.
If he can't hold Hamilton's speed here, he is in for a long season. #-o
Hope he can find some pace tomorrow [-o<
