Alonso P3!

Let's see how that holds up in Q2 and Q3.

But it's encouraging, at least.

One thing I can say is that this new format is a very welcome change, despite all the criticism it received.

First McLaren about to be eliminated in q2 (button)...
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

My guess is there was something the matter with the cars and they couldn't get them back out in time. Sucks.

In Button's case, it's simple - they didn't have long enough to refuel the car. The new qualifying format prevented them running again (it sucks it appears).

In Alonso's case... dunno, maybe they thought 12th was better than 8th with less tyre choice?

Q1, Q2 exciting...Q3 I'll predict it now to be a boring session dominated by Mercedes :(
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

Q3 is gonna be mayhem. The bad thing i can already tell is that this qualifying type leads to teams fighting against elimination will damage their prospects for the race by having to use their tires... giving the ones that dont even more of an advantage. Was this really the aim?

Well done Formula 1... =D>

I don't think Q3 *will* be madness. Instead, the last 4 will be eliminated simply because they can't turn the car around fast enough. The next 3 will not run again because they want to preserve tyres, and we'll have a gap, then 3 cars on track in the last little bit...

Suckage.
