Latifi man..........3.5s slower than Albon who was in the top ten and plumb last.

It's just getting embarrassing at this point isn't it?
It's a new track and Albon is more comfortable with the car, what's the problem? :)

Latifi has the contract until the end of the season as long as Lavazza and Sofina appear on the car.

Hamilton's floor was stuffed with sensors and cables for evaluation. How quickly you guys jump to conclusions.
Of course I struggle. I just don’t quit.

Mostly only the very few times when Hamilton is slower than his teammate

Fresh telemetry from FP1 top 3: LEC, VER, RUS

There isn't honestly that much here to be honest. Looking at RPMs (gear ratios are MRC < FER < RBR) it seems Ferrari engine is tuned down slightly. Also Ferrari looks higher downforce and particularly decent in fast speed corners, and is braking very late compared to others in some key corners.

Other than that, it's pretty close and at the moment somewhat inconclusive, I think drivers are still lining up the right braking points, all of them have weird patterns during braking and I think they are just testing the speed they can carry in the corner.

According to Ralf the new(not so new anymore) admin is getting fed up with him.
And it's a solid question what would be best, Piastri with a "little" money or Latifi with a huge bag?
For me that's definitely a question Williams need to ask themselves.

A mid-season debut for Piastri would be lovely! But Williams Racing will need to examine the contract closely I guess and Alpine will need to prepare an attractive funding package. :)

Giving Latifi a multi-year contract as Alpine reserve driver might be part of the package Alpine needs to be prepare to facilitate a mid-season swap: but then would Latifi prefer to race in Indycar? Perhaps Alpine would also need to provide Latifi with a drive in the Alpine WEC program in addition to taking over Piastri's reserve driver duties?

From the telemetry I would also add:

* Ferrari rounded corners at end of straights, very evident in previous races are gone. Either the new engine or the lack of porpoising and Ferrari isn't scrubbing speed at the end of straights any more.
* Ferrari seems to be doing very well in the high speed corners at the start, they keep more throttle and even get back to full throttle for a bit, probably slightly higher downforce.
* RedBull has still a big advantage in terms of top speed, considering it's the slower of the trio in slow speed corners, they have a lower downforce package.
* Russel and the Merc really did well in the technical area around T11-16, better top speed in the straight up to T11 and good exit out of T16 allow it to beat LEC's lap by a smidge, Ferrari is really good in the technical bit there though, VER struggles a bit.
* I wrote this earlier as well but to add some color: you would expect Ferrari RPM curve to be in between Merc (highest) and RBR (lowest), but LEC is the last to switch to 8th gear in the 2 long straights, not by a lot compared to VER but quite a lot later than RUS, suggesting more margin for VER and LEC.

Difference between VER and LEC though is pretty small so without fuel loads it's hard to figure out, I would think VER needs to add downforce or they'll cook the tyres in the technical section T11-16 sliding around.

Less porpoising from Mercedes and Ferrari ??
Great effort from Albon.
Inappropriate track design in the chicane area: processional, pointless, no passing except for Max doing a slide tackle = no racing zone, not fit for purpose. An immediate potential cost zone for teams.
Pathetically pedantic the jewellery (created) issue, signalling a worriesome change in FIA culture.
Proposed petition to reduce Crofty's statistics?
