Hard to tell to be honest, might have something to do with behavior in yaw and interaction of the first notch and front suspension. Looks to me like the first notch is a kind of barrier (?) that encourages only a certain amount of flow to go down to the side, where the pushrod and front arm are. I think I see a slightly bigger radius on the tub and nose just before the notch, that's also making the flow go down.
Later the radius increases again after second notches, suggesting they want to let it slide down to the sides again, to feed the inlet I imagine. Interesting stuff, not sure it's anything huge, but a nice detail to add and improve the airflow in your own way.
