I also think that Alonso is on substantially lower fuel weight like 10-20 kg less than the other front runners.

I keep my fingers crossed for Sebastian and hope that Hamilton will not make another train in front of him. The curse of the KERS can hit again tomorrow.

Did Raikkonen mess up twice? I saw him run through the gravel on one flying lap, but his next one didn't seem to be any faster.

He still has KERS though...

Alonso's a pretty good driver, but its pretty clear he's on light fuel. 2 time WDC or not, a driver can only get 100% out of the car, and sometimes even that isnt good enough.
lol, man, I'd admit to being an Alonso fanboy any day, there are certainly worse drivers in the field. Alonso's Q3-Q2 difference is .75 sec (yes, quite small and probably showing low fuel) with Vettel and Rosberg at ~1 sec. Webber and Hamilton look the heaviest on the first three rows.

Call me an optimist (or fanboy, lol), but I think it was probably worth it to put that thing on pole. Vettel will be aware that Button is starting way behind him and will be looking to get a solid points finish to get back in the driver's championship. Plus after seeing the way his car was handling during his Q3 laps I doubt he has much confidence in it. Meanwhile, Webber and Hamilton could hold the rest of the runners up, especially as Webber is impossible to overtake and Lewis will throw everything at him trying to get by.

I think Alonso's start will be the most critical part of the race for him, and any gap he can build during his first stint. He had bad starts in Turkey and Silverstone, but somehow managed a great start at the Ring after getting in the dirt on the warm-up. How that happened I have no idea.

Well, Alonso's definitely the lightest car in the field at 637.5kg. Everybody behind him down to Kovalainen are 650+

Edit: Wow ISLAMATRON, thought I was going to be 1st with car weight comment!

Well you can do the calculations because I have no idea what the fuel usage per lap at this track is.

2.8kg per lap maybe?

3kg per lap maybe, since that is the difference between VEttle & Webber?

I think it is too much. The track is short and twisty. I guess somewhere below 2.5

then why the 3kg differnce between the 2 red bulls? or maybe thats due to the rounding of the fuel weights.

VEttle looks to be in the best position to win this race.

Remember that they are fuelled at the start of the Q3. Maybe Vettel managed to save more.

So we think Alonso's in on lap 11 or 12? Ugh. Hope there's some good field stretch.

Buemi's looking to be in a good position to pick up some points.

But they are weighed after Q3, but maybe so, he has been attributed with that trait several times this year already.

Nope, Alonso got the 2XWDC 6 tenths bump and will be in at lap 53. Didnt you say he dug deep and put in an inspired Q3 lap?

Both of the Brawn cars ran very heavy during Q3. It appears to me they will be last to do that first pit stop, I wonder what strategy they have chosen?
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.

They can hope, and that is a reasonable hope that Lewis would overtake RBRs and then hold them off. Brawn would have an advantage in that case.
