And now he is replaced by Drugovich for FP1. Not Stroll is booted out of FP1, but Alonso. I am happy for Drugo, he deserves an F1 seat for sure. I looked at other FP1 swaps, questionably Mercedes is betting on Antonelli I guess, basically everybody else has replaced their underperforming drivers.
It's a requirement to do this once a year with each driver. With all the testing they do in Bahrain, Fernando needs FP1 the least there. I guess this means no upgrades for Bahrain.

Yes, Williams will replace Sainz with Browning, Bearman with Hirakawa. It will be interesting FP1 to watch for sure.

Four FP1s per team.
Each regular driver will be replaced twice.

At Aston Martin, Drugovich and Crawford are expected to do 2 FP1s each (total of 4). It is possible that the other tracks used for Rookie will be Monza, Mexico and Abu Dhabi.

It's a shame Jess Hawkins won't get a run-out. I know she's focusing on GTs and Le Mans though. There was a brief section about her on BBC News last night. I forget, do the drivers need a super license for FP1 or can they use those sessions towards getting the super license points?

To participate in FP1 there is no need to have an SL, but it is necessary to have driven at least 300km in an old F1 car.

But why should she do FP1, if she has never demonstrated anything special in formula cars throughout her career in motorsport, having 2 drivers with a good potential from its young development program available?! Just for marketing? :-k Her experience in Formula cars is basically just F4... It makes no sense to put a mid/low-level F4 driver to drive in an F1 official session.

I see your point and totally understand. But I think it's a bit pointless having these F1 Academy drivers heavily associated with F1 teams unless they get at least one FP1 session. Otherwise, what's the point? I mean I'd really appreciate seeing Abbi Pulling in an FP session, or even Bianca Bustamante. I just see F1 Academy becoming a PR shambles or even dying like A1GP very soon unless those drivers who win races and finish on the podium get more test outings.

They used to drive in testing. There is no more testing to save $$$$. They need to get exposure somewhere to not be completely in the dark if they are ever needed.....So they have compromised here and offered FP1 as a replacement. They've also shortened those from 1.5hrs to 1hr.

I'm sure it was all Fallows' fault and there is nothing dysfunctional about this team. At all.

What do you mean the AMR23 wasn't Fallows' doing? He joined in the spring of '22 and was given carte blanche by Lawrence.

Wonder if he's gonna end up at Audi with Peter Machin from RBR that was just announced?
