Temps were on the low end of expectations so brake cooling requirements are also lower - tape is the standard way of achieving this (if you don't have better optimised ducts to hand).

Well, then they were very clumsy in their intention:
  • They forgot to do it with Kevin
  • The cap that broke off fell on the ground and Jenson drove over it, luckilly it was with the sharp edges down, otherwise it could've been a puncture

And still we havent seen the true shape of the butterfly suspension. When they were filming magnussen getting out of the car enroute to the podium I was screaming "POINT THE BLOODY CAMERA AT IT MAN"!

Also using tape allows them to improve brake cooling, if temps rise for example, very easily by tearing the tape off. Using different ducts doesn't allow for this.

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

I was wondering, is there any reason McLaren drivers are the only ones who are using 99% throttle (According to the FOM telemetry) when flat out?

Part of Mclarens way to ensure they stay under the 100Kg/h flow limit?

Calibration issue. Most telemetry systems measure full throttle as 99% because then you know when they are full throttle. If it showed 100% then there's the possibility that the pedal is going further than that but not logged.

The other issue of course is parc ferme conditions. They are allowed to add and remove tape as they like according to conditions throughout the weekend, but switching ducts would be violating parc ferme.

Last year they had a lot of "Significant Upgrade Packages", but none of them worked....so let's be cautious about that

Well testing was positive and the Melbourne Package worked well too so i'm confident they sorted their correlation out.
