You forget the fuel they run is oxygenated. Don't ever believe the lie that they run pump gas.A very good point about the lack of oxygen in the exhaust.

Do you have a source for this information?strad wrote:You forget the fuel they run is oxygenated. Don't ever believe the lie that they run pump gas.A very good point about the lack of oxygen in the exhaust.
At the end of Q3 the exhaust would be glowing red at close to 1000C, and unburnt fuel would have evaporated. Maybe, the drivers have an 'overtake' button that gives them this option for a limited period during the race.forty-two wrote:Could this be the reason for the famous "spark plug fault" with Vettel's car and Webber's flume of smoke at the start of the race in Bahrain (I think it was Bahrain anyway!). Perhaps a significant amount of fuel was left in the exhaust system following the Q3 run, which burnt off at the start of the race when full power was applied?Boost wrote:When using antilag you end up with a flame running past the base of the valve and then passing through the head. This leads to localised heating of the head and more importantly tends to burn bits of the valve away.n smikle wrote:That is similar to anti-lag right? Maybe if red-bull made their exhaust piping thicker they can do this lap after lap.
They say it damages the engine.. but they should have clarified. I am not sure delaying the ignition can damage the engine I'm a little skeptical Anybody knows?
True, if the exhaust were at 1000 degreesC, then yep, the fuel would most certainly evaporate. But we don't know what sort of clever cooling devices they might have tucked away in their exhaust package.Shaddock wrote: At the end of Q3 the exhaust would be glowing red at close to 1000C, and unburnt fuel would have evaporated.
Or in this case, a "Stick the car to the deck when I come off the revs" button? I don't think so myself though. I have no basis for this, but it feels like it would be illegal.Shaddock wrote: Maybe, they use the drives have an 'overtake' button that gives them this option for a limited period during the race.
Fuel burning in the exhaust will produce flames and any wasting of fuel without producing power from it is a non starter.n smikle wrote:Residual fuel will combine with oxygen when it leaves the exhaust. If you guys are talking about the smoke and soot that is something else.
Looks like they're monitoring the F-Duct's operation somewhat still. Any sign of Flo-Vis being used by RB?imightbewrong wrote:
