Cold temps suit us relative to McLaren. It will be a lot hotter
We don't know about that so far. It's true RB kills its front tires but that was because Max pushed to keep up with the Maccas in Australia and China sprint. Macca have a pace advantage of maybe 3 tenths in race trim -- don't push too much, tire won't deg of course. In Bahrain test, the cold temperatures did in fact bring McLaren into it's sweet spot as per Stella.

I think none of the races so far have given us any evidence this year to conclude McL lose their advantage in cold temps. They just have weaknesses elsewhere that don't allow them to basically have won everything so far.
Isn't Bahrain generally considered a very rear dominated track. If Red Bull kills front tyres, that should be less of a factor in Bahrain.
Yes, it is indeed heavily rear limited. But everyone simply lacks pure performance relative to McLaren.
Call a spade, a spade.

There are claims made in this article that red bull will have mechanical tweaks at Jeddah to improve management of tyre energy

I don't put much weight behind it yet

unfortunately that site is HIGHLY unreliable so I would take that claim with a very very very big grain of salt.

Yeah it's almost certainly bogus, but you never know

Max is second in the WDC standing, 1 point behind lando. Really a horrible start of the season.

Red Bull does not need a miracle. Just some decent upgrades.

They have Max, Hannah and GP.

Obviously the main course will be the new floor (with possibly wider package) in Imola.
But they had some minor upgrades in Japan as well. I can see some similar appetizers in similar magnitude in the next few races as well.

Max looks ahead to Bahrain GP: 'I think it will be a tough race for us'

Published on 08 April 2025 by Niels Hendrix

Max Verstappen won the Japanese Grand Prix from pole position. The world champion reflects: “To win in Japan was an amazing moment for the team and a perfect send off for Honda, who we have had such a great relationship and a lot of success with over the years. It is amazing to have four wins in a row there and was a great start to the triple header. It was a good boost for the team and now we can hopefully go into this week with a bit more confidence.”

Looking ahead to the Bahrain Grand Prix in Sakhir, Max says: “Bahrain is typically somewhere where we have gone well: the track is very technical and of course it is under night race conditions which is a bit different. It is going to be hot and think it will be a tough race for us. There are still things to improve on the car: we are still working on our tyre management and lacking some pace so we will just need to work hard and constantly push the car to the limit. However, I do always enjoy going there so looking forward to seeing what this week brings and hopefully we can maximise the performance of the car as best we can.”

Wait didn't they just bring a new floor recently? They are already speaking of another one? So is the last one considered a dud? Not very encouraging signs from the development team.

I'm not sure why do you think that's implied?
Since the start of this era floor is the key component and all teams come up with several iterations every season.

Because of how new the previous one is, it's 3 races old, it was introduced in the last day of testing.

The first floor was from Bahrain pre-season Friday. The new floor is for Rd 7. The car is slow. They want to become faster. They will have to update the floor.

Old floor was introduced in pre-season testing end of February, while the upgrade will come in May, 7 races into the season. This seems pretty standard to me.
