C) "Can some teams change the engine map control to padles?"

"There is no value in this. One map can handle both on and off throttle conditions. The off throttle fuel burning has or relevance to the normal on throttle map."

Ah..but there would be value in this. An off throttle map could be driver selected to maintain mass flow from the engine through the diffuser. The obstacle to this is throttle butterfly valve position, which according to impending interpretation, must be closed when the drivers foot is off of the pedal. So get rid of the throttle butterfly and find some new engine map that provides torque modulation using ignition/injection timing.

1) "An off throttle map could be driver selected to maintain mass flow from the engine through the diffuser."

Why does the driver not have the off throttle map always on? Are there times when max traction in the turns is not required? How often do you envision the driver needing to change his rear grip levels per lap?

2) The "impending interpretation" of the rule was only a rough draft. The subsequent delay in implementation was to allow for something more sophisticated to cover ideas like yours. There will be no way around their wish to eliminate off throttle gas production. The team engineers will cooperate in the drafting, so all possibilities will be covered. Once the decision is made to ban this, the engineers prefer it to be rock solid so they can move on to other subjects.

There are not going to be any work arounds that create anything close to what is available now.
