Hard to see from the picture quality/size but isn't it just a side skirt?

You are correct of course, I mistook it from being horizontal.

"The idea had also been employed with Harris’s championship-winning Frissbee CanAm car raced by Al Unser Sr and Jr in 1980 and ‘81." From the Motorsport article http://www.motorsportmagazine.com/race/ ... elta-wing/

Is it that car ? Al Unser Jr speaks very positively about it : "The thing I liked about the Frisbee was that it had so much downforce. The wings on it were just huge, and when we had the handling right, the faster you drove it, the more grip it had. It was that simple. It would get through the corners really well. I'd say the Frisbee's downforce was comparable to an Indy car's, if not more. The rear wing on that Can-Am car is almost six feet high. Trevor Harris was the one who pretty much designed the GR3 with the pull-rod system on the front. It was a wonderful car to drive."

Interesting car!

I fail to see how the vortices would be generated on that CanAm car tho. You need clean air and a lot of it to create these vortices but here you have a whole bodywork to go through first. I don't know how much of VG the big flat bit right behind the front wheels acts like one. I would say it is more of a splitter. Unless someone spots something I don't see?

But that car looks very neat, I am impressed! :)

I find the whole BLAT concept very interesting, I wonder if it could have worked in F1 but hey, we'll probably never know.

Came across this picture of the DeltaWing floor where you clearly see on the sides the VG:

Very nice!
