I havent got around to looking at the base file until now, but one problem I noticed is with the nose - you have chopped off everything in front of AA. I understand why, the top part changes depending on the length of the nose, but it needs to be there to define where bodywork is forbidden underneath the nose. If you like I can send you a version of this section with the top part staying at 625mm, that way you can specify the diagonal line bit separately.

Otherwise everything seems to be in place but maybe some more labels could be added to clarify things:
-the yellow box in front/on top of the cockpit template
-the light blue and red boxes at the front of the car

The guide for the 'open section' rule on the nose is missing, do you want to include that?

The yellow R75 volume also doesnt extend to the airbox/engine cover area which technically it should. I think we might have already discussed this though. I think also the bottom of this volume is at 150mm above the RP whereas it is at 100mm in the PDF.

Also something that I did which you have carried over, the "may only contain" should probably be removed from the box for the mirror, since it intersects areas where other bodywork is allowed.

send me you copy of the nose bit and i'll have a look

Yeah, its meant to be 100mm, i done it from the step plane by mistake.

I noticed the mirror thing too, already removed on my latest copy.

Perhaps add the two sidepod cross sections?

Oh my goodness...I've just started sketching out my attempt at a 2014 car in my CAD package. I started from the 2013 template. Apples and Oranges! Totally different! Front end aero is so screwed! It's going to look like an IndyCar.

Minor change - K5.6 should probably specify that there must be 2 FW pillars so that its in line with the F1 regs.

everyone should of receieved an e-mail linking to the downloads. Any problems let me know

cdsavage - I'm not going to add that in now the files have been released. Its only minor. Obviously if there are big changes needed I will adjust the rule file

I've been working from the files, and the only issue so far is that K2.1 specifies all body work to be inside the main volume (MV). I assume this is the grey volume. K2.7 specifies that the cockpit entry template (CET) be fully enclosed in bodywork. However the CET has side head rest volume outside the MV.

Other than that, I would only gripe about the width of the stock gearbox and the height of the rear differential (too low). But then everyone has to deal with this so no worries!

thanks.

Yep there is a small mistake there - the cockpit template is in the correct position but the bodywork volume is too low in that area. There is a similar problem around the gearbox where the spec gearbox protrudes outside of the allowed volume. I have a modified version of the main volume ready if Luke is OK with distributing another version of the file.

Hi Guys was just doing some work on the tub, not sure if im incorrect or the file is incorrect but the cockpit template that has been provided should have a 60mm edge all around it, but if i add a 60mm edge around the sides of the cockpit template it doesn't seem right.

Oh by the way fantastic detail with the suspension, and all the turning vanes etc on the wheel rims.

It should do, apart from the BB line onwards you'll need to adjust and check the cockpit template is enclosed

Does the helmet have to be considered when designing the airbox intake? ( "Any inlet must be visible in its entirety when viewed from the front of the car (ignoring the front wheel/suspension assembly)" ). It does, right?

Is it just me or the new wheels/suspensions cause A LOT of lift compared to the old ones?
