I don't know what exactly the SC delta is, but I don't see the point why Hamilton could not have passed Rosberg that way.

The pitstop took 25 seconds so he would be about 25 seconds behind Rosberg?

I guarantee that he would not have beaten Rosberg with that strategy, that is entirely out of the question according to logic
Doesn't it take less? It's a very small pitlane, and you do cut a considerable part of the track with it. Aside if it's a viable strategy or not.

edit: nvm, it does take around that:

Ok imagine that Lewis stayed out for the extra lap like he did and stayed right behind Rosberg, but only that while he was going up the hill and until getting to Mirabeau he had to slow down to a safety car delta time while Rosberg, Kimi and Riccardo were allowed to continue at normal speeds

thats the sort of time Lewis would have lost

Let's put it this way:

Had Lewis stopped immediately, then while he spent 25 seconds in the pits, the rest of the field would have continued at full speed.
Then, when the rest of the field would have spent 25 seconds in the pits, Lewis would have had to go slow.

This.

It wouldn't have helped him. Maybe if the SC had been released later on then it would, but I think as it stands he wouldn't had gained anything.

Lewis should really quit whining and lap faster on his next initial q3 run. Everyone had 1 shot and Nico came out best, period.

Yeah, that's not how it works and it's easy to criticise now. I think Rosberg wouldn't be happy when Lewis had done the same.

Yep and then lock up and cause a yellow flag while Nico's on his run and looking like he's going faster...

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Why leave your fate in others' hands ? At no point was Lewis on pole, provisionally or not. He should've lapped a mere 0.06 faster on his first run, that would've given him the pole by 0.001 secs. Rosberg then could make all the mistakes he wanted to.

Would have been really awkward if the team Decided to do only one run. We all know that the first lap is a banker lap where they push less to ensure a nice clean lap unless they screw up the next one. They would have looked mighty stupid screwing up the first one and not getting a second one in.

Come on, during normal circumstances he would have had another go, you can't predict something like that to happen.

Hamilton is a very good driver. Possibly a great driver. But he is nevertheless a whiny little bitch. :?

only because people here still dont understand what i was saying they still thought the undercut would work, but actually yes i think i would go well on the mercedes pitwall however the guy they have right now made the right decision so i probably have to wait for him to screw up before sending in my application
