My thoughts exactly - they deserve second place more than Argentina

First it was Belgians who wanted to eat Argentinian Steak, then the Dutchs and now the Germans.

I respect them all, they are good teams but are lucky Messi is not exploding, or maybe it is that they put 3 men defending against him.

Argentina was much criticized before the start of the world cup, saying the defence was a disaster and it was a striker only team. Frankcly I think the technical director resolved things in a very clever way. I expected nothing and now I see them in good "footballistic" shape (but not phisical shape -maybe a little bit tired-) and that is a thing Germany can take advantage of (they played half a match against brazil)

We will see, in Football (unlike racing) you do not depend on a machine. I hope we all watch a fine match on Sunday.

What was thinking VanGaal to think Huntelaar could be more important for the extra time than Krull for the penalties???

It was obvious Huntelaar was going to do nothing. Both teams were too conservative, penalties were inevitables

Belatti, Messi is not exploding for 15 months now. This championship DiMaría and Mascherano are being a lot more important than Messi. Yesterday Mascherano was the man of the match, no doubt

IMO Argentina has been quite dissapointing, they have a very good team but played like Greece. Yes they´re on the final and it´s one match so anything may happen, but I was hoping they would play much better, without DiMaria they´re boring

I don't want to break your team down, and imo Argentina deserved to win from the Netherlands, but the team isn't up to the standard of Germany.
Next to DiMaria and Messi they only have good players, not great ones. With DiMaria out and Messi basicilly caged the whole game every game between 3 opponents, Argentina is trapped offense-wise.

The Dutch were almost all the time controlling the game.. only the loose out by penalties..

They had the most ball possession, but didn's score with it.

I feel the Netherlands underperformed if you look at their players. Argentina fought valantly, keeping the ranks closed long after they got tired.

Argentina knew that they couldn't win the game in normal and extra time, they pushed for penalties and they won but I can live with it. The Netherlands wasn't able to impress me with their game either, although they played a bit better than Argentina.

Euh well, The Netherlands really aren't that good, they made it quite far with that bunch. Van Persi played crappy the last two matches, Sneyder is hardly a top midfielder at the world cup, and imo only Robben and their defence did a solid job.

I believe Belgium played much better against Argentina. At least they created opportunities, but that early goal cost them. Argentina made proper use of their early goal to play calm, take they time every time the ball was out and delayed the entire game, making it a misery to watch, similar to ARG-NED.

As one journalist said here this morning, now let's all cheer for Germany, as it would be terrible to see a team that is focused on defence win a world cup. It would put us back into the age of Italian Cattenaccio.

If you can't score in 120minutes, you don't control enough.

Argentina looks like it's a "weak" team and can't play a good game, but they don't fear the other team having the ball and it's just their game, they're good at it and it works.

If only Argentina's finances would be as solid as their defense.

Indeed, I don't think Argentina deserved it at all. Germany for me has been the best team of the World Cup by a country mile. The Netherlands weren't that bad, but they couldn't find anything, because Argentina yet again parked the bus just like they did against Belgium. Argentina looked clueless when their defenders win back the ball. They always try to find Messi, just to realize he's man marked, so passing to him was impossible, so they just hoof the ball away.
