Not sure if they were the Monza engines or the Canada engines.PlatinumZealot wrote:The Ferrari engine is now just a powerful as Mercedes with the rumored Singapore update. Not sure if there was any token spend though.
The other Ferrari cars have never made that sound though.Juzh wrote:Well they are running last's year ferrari PU after all, which was known to be horrible at energy recovery.
Limting returns and merc so far have not turned up their engine in the race yet. Only in practice in monza... They claim their mods are for reliablity and foundation for 2016...wuzak wrote:If Ferrari's PU is as powerful as Mercedes', that would be impressive as they still have 4 tokens to spend. Merc have spent all theirs.
What singapore update? Never heard of such thing. It's also not as powerful. Even compared to pre-monza spec all mercedes customer teams still use.PlatinumZealot wrote:The Ferrari engine is now just a powerful as Mercedes with the rumored Singapore update. It's not, and data supports this assumption, as opposed to just speculation.wuzak wrote:If Ferrari's PU is as powerful as Mercedes', that would be impressive as they still have 4 tokens to spend. Merc have spent all theirs.
Why would they use an old inferior PU?wuzak wrote: Not sure if they were the Monza engines or the Canada engines.
Top speeds don't tell the full story.Juzh wrote:It's not, and data supports this assumption, as opposed to just speculation.wuzak wrote:If Ferrari's PU is as powerful as Mercedes', that would be impressive as they still have 4 tokens to spend. Merc have spent all theirs.
The Monza PU was their 4th for the season. With Singapore not being overly power dependent, and other coming races are, Ferrari may have opted to use the older engine to keep life in teh newer one.Juzh wrote:Why would they use an old inferior PU?wuzak wrote: Not sure if they were the Monza engines or the Canada engines.
It is impossible to ascertain the engine power from top speed. The motogp bikes hit ~350 km/h at Mugello, does this mean the Honda motogp engine is as powerful as the Mercedes PU? The only way to estimate engine power is via GPS data, or by using on-board footage to provide a GPS estimation. Further compounding the problem is that vehicle top speed is more than likely a classic game theory game among the teams.Juzh wrote: It's not, and data supports this assumption, as opposed to just speculation.
