Why would they? The pullrod is still under tension whether the suspension is in rebound or compression strokes :wtf:

Sometimes the wheel leaves the road, bouncing the apex, the 6mm rod is doing all the work for that split second pushing the wheel back down.
Its only 5% of the time, not a big issue.

Doesn't matter if the wheel leaves the road, the spring is still pulling on the pullrod.

The only way to create that is to use a cable as the pull rod.

I remember seeing an Australian built FF1600 that did, in fact, use cables for suspension loads; it was certainly interesting to look at.

In 2019 the RB15 featured a multi-link upper wishbone.

In 2020, the RB16 was using a multi-link lower wishbone instead with the rear leg mounted lower down than the front leg and it also seems to have a pullrod too..

Red Bull's innovative multi-link 2020 F1 front suspension design...

Leaf springs have been used like this forever it feels like now. Take a look at the lear spring that was used on the rear of the Corvette through the C6. Silly journalists use to say condescending things about this, but of course they had no clue what they were talking about.

It’s a clever use with updated materials, but it’s just a smart application of something that people have been doing for a century.

As for either design being more prone to understeer, I agree with that it’s the car concept its on and not due to underlying issues between the rod orientation.

Sorry, the rear leaf spring in Corvette was retained because it was a Corvette feature, not for any great reason (otherwise, frankly, it would have been copied). GM being GM as usual.

I imagine the design team breathed a collective sigh of relief when it didn't fit around the trans for c8.
