Can we expect a shock result for McLaren here? I don not quite know how they could finish as the top 3rd team given Mercedes strengths in pulling results out of thin air.

I think without any major upgrade breakthroughs aside, Hamilton probably has the best hope of the season to get a win with the smooth track and his 'home advantage'.

The guy has literally won on 3 wheels here and after the last race has said he has had enough of doing experimental setups each weekend while George goes traditional. This may mean he can have more consistency throughout the weekend and that could only be a good thing.

All that said, the Redbull is so good it will likely be a Max win.

Wonder how many disappointed Mercedes’ fans there will be after this weekend

I think there’s a bit more to it than just the track surface.

Guess we’ll see come FP1

Attending my first race in person as a bit of a treat this weekend - hope I’m not asking a stupid question here but even though F1 is not the screaming V10s of yesteryear, do people recommend earplugs being used for the weekend?

Il be in Stowe corner for reference :)

Apologies that it’s not a tech question - just an amateur fan on his first time visit! 😂
To put it in perspective: last year at Zandvoort measurement results showed that the F1 cars noise emission was about 5 dB lower than the Porsche cup...
Noise at the stages could of course still well be above 85 dB(A), so if you are very careful for your ears you should take them with you, but don't expect the roaring V10 and V8 sounds of the past.

Sad to say, but I'm expecting a bad weekend for us... We simply have too much drag on a fast circuit like this...

So sometimes we laugh at someone and other times we take the same argument very seriously, just when it suits? Spicy engine Brazil.

"Spicy engine Brazil" was stupid too.

The McLaren is obviously a draggy car relative to the rest of the field. Its slower in a straight line than its Mercedes compatriots as well. The PU is not the cause of that.

what does convergence mean in practical terms .does it mean relibilty ,power, durability ,ability to sustain power over 6 race weekend.the answer is no the pu have not converge at the top we have Honda and if others want to match them they have to good in all those factors.take for example if ferrari want to match them for power their pu wont last a race like we saw in Barcelona and Baku.So ferrari put a lot of downforce on their car to match Rbr on lap time so it partial work but that hurt balance and tire life and they get blasted on straight.last year merc learned that their pu was not durable enough the lost upto 40hp over six race weekends so they resorted to changing pu combustion chamber every other third race on Lewis but downside is you start at back .The Redbull is a good car but second to ferrari on chassis it is the pu that make them potent.
