While overtaking may become harder there, aero efficiency in quali becomes more important.

Williams masterclass

Leclerc showed last year the 2nd straight might be the one to overtake on and the 1st straight can be used to set it up only

True but ultimately on a typical track with overtaking options, qualifying isn't so important, and on a track that has no overtaking opportunities (like Monaco), then efficiency doesn't even matter.

I think a Ferrari pole and MV win is on the cards here. I also believe that Mercedes and Aston Martin (well, Alonso) will have a good dog fight.

For some reason, I like Stroll. Maybe I am quite lenient because these kind of drivers (pay drivers I mean) are shite, but I would love to see him in a competitive car. He is still young and I hope having Vettel and Alonso alongside him as teammates will be valuable.

He has been in a competitive car in his career already and did not at all make the most of it. The rp20

Is this the start of the mandated tyre compounds for each Q1,2,3? Or is that a trial run at selected tracks?

Ahhh thats good then. Otherwise we might not get to see the top qualifying times of the teams that didnt make the cut the first time round. What fun would there be if only 5 teams had to run the harder tyre, but never got chance to run the soft to try and set a fast lap time.

Much rather them say heres 2 sets of softs for qualifying, thats all you can use, rather than hard, med, soft usage. But then again, I think the fastest Q2 time set on your chosen tyre to start the race makes much more sense.

Change would need a major re-think.

I'm not going all-out on my AM/Alonso will rule the world just yet and will go for a slightly more conservative ranking than in the pecking predictions here;

Quali: Leclerc - Verstappen - Alonso
Race: Verstappen - Alonso - Perez (with Ferrari going up in smoke or ruining the strategy or being teleported off track by a weather balloon or whatnot - they will do better later though because I do still need Ferrari to become WCC 8) )

Lance Stroll travels to Bahrain and a decision on whether or not to race will be made on Thursday.

Lance Stroll is expected in Manama: Lance missed the Sakhir tests due to a wrist fracture that forced him to rest after undergoing surgery at the Dexeus Clinic in Barcelona.
If he passes the FIA medical checks he will take his usual place in the AMR23, otherwise he will leave the cockpit to
Felipe Drugovich, who has already familiarized himself with the 'Verdona'.

Lance Stroll is expected to be in the Sakhir paddock tomorrow. Aston Martin will announce tomorrow who will be on track on Friday,
but according to information gathered by Motorsport.com it should be Stroll who takes to the track in the FP1 session.

I'll clean that in the morning.

Stay on topic please.
