Rosberg showing well on a track that Williams normally perform well on...they really need a double points finish to get back in the hunt for 4th. They've announced they are shifting some of the aero team back from the '09 project onto the '08 car to try to regain lost ground as I think it's apparrent that the Williams is NOT aero efficient when compared to the RedBull, Toyota and Renault. The FW30 seems to get out of slow corners well and has excellent mechanical grip, but the aero package he too much drag for the downforce it's creating. The front and rear wings seem a bit old hat.

Rosberg is running a shark fin as well. I haven't seen it on pictures but f1today.nl says he is.

With the restrictions placed on rear wing movement (i.e. flexible) and therefore adjudged a moveable aero device under numerous previous circumstances - why hasnt the same thing applied to these weather vanes that have now sprung up - they flex like crazy - surely the same rule applies - and theyre bloody ugly

I thought they were running a BMW style extended engine cover any way? Which does the same job in a less extreme styled way.

Interesting to note that Lewis is not running the big engine cover today, well according to the pics so far.

Here's a slightly better view of the BMW cockpit fins.

Those BMW fins look like they're setup to create lift. Is that correct? Is this to generate a downwash of air, or am I just wrong? :-P

I guess a bit of downwash but the main idea is to create a vortex.

i believe they generate a downwash, causing more air to go into sidepod intakes thus allowing more aggressive front wing AOA

If it was solely to create downwash there would be no need to make them swept. Straight winglet would produce more downwash with less drag, but swept wings generate stronger vortices.

Funny how the Ferarri bargeboards and winglets there look the same as the new Honda ones.

Maybe Ross has been calling old Marenello friends.

Honda is also testing a new three-element front wing. They're certainly very busy this week.
