Seriously guys, why?
- He has a contract with Ferrari for 2010
- He's doing rather well lately (best scorer on the grid since/including Hungary)
- He wants to continue

Why would Ferrari loose a heap of money to replace a great driver with another great driver who may or may not do well in Ferrari, and has a trace of scandals behind him?

i would just like to say that Im surprised ferrari would take in a driver like alonso he's not really that good and if you think about it he was world champ because kimi had a fast but unreliable car and race after race alonso would win down to pure luck. that goes for lewis hamilton too, but thats a different story
(im so glad he crashed on the last lap at monza!!!!) kimi is down right the best driver in the field today

couldnt agree more, remember this is the same guy who nearly beat Michael Schumacher with only 1 victory and clearly not the best car in the field, which goes to show how consistantly fast he really is.

I'm a huge Kimi fan and while I do agree with most of your post I can't agree with Alonso being "not really that good" he was always there in the background to take the wins McLaren dropped by reliability by staying ahead of Montoya etc. and backed it up with a strong run in 2006 and 2007 with championship material cars and has fought for wins in cars that really weren't up to it (Fuji 2008 the most recent) so yes he is very good. Right up there with Kimi, Lewis, Schumi.

Well I cant see how Kimi can be dropped by any team in the whole world, even SF have admitted that Kimi is from another planet 8) (even if compared to MSC).
So, in my opinion, he ll stay at Ferrari until he gets bored of it and leaves for WRC. He s too good to be chucked out, even in the global recession period

i would be very surprised if they dropped there 5 in a row podium finisher. while using one of the worst fearri cars in a long time.
there world champion driver.
while massa has yet to get behind the wheel after the accident.
alonso also has a history of causing crap in teams.
so i would say fearri will find a step in guy for massa and keep kimi. so they have at least one driver they know can get the job done.

Yup, that's the sensible answer and what I'd do in their position.

Small hitch though ... when has F1 gone for the sensible answer?

Alonso's championship is less kimi's screwing up than Kimi's championship is more Hamilton having bad luck.
Kimi was champion by 1 point to a rookie don't forget that. Not saying kimi is no good, but I won't put Alonso bellow him and say his wins were pure luck when in fact Kimi's championship could also be put down on Alonso's and Hamilton's misfortunes.

And to say you are glad a driver crashed doesn't reflect well on your objectivity.
I need to draw other posters' attention to these Kimi threads, these Kimi fans are getting carried away in here.

If it's really happening this is going to be great! finally Lewis gets another top of the line Partner. I hope the iceman doesn't melt down after he gets crushed.

Stale joke aside... I don't think Mclaren is going to fork over GBP 25million just like that.. he has to expect a lower salary.

I hope Heikki is not offended by this switch.

give kimi a break, in his championship year he had his fair (twice) share of failures when in podium contention, that could have easily put him in further lead over lewis and alonso, not to mention Mclaren had a stronger car and scored alot more point than Ferrari. And lets not forget 2005 when his car failed i think 3 times leading the race to alonso and several other times thats 36 points net lost right there! And remember 2003 nurburgring, if he could have converted his pole position to 2 points or more, he could have been champion beating Schumacher. i think all you need to considers is how he beat Schumacher in Spa 04 that was one of the greatest drives of all time.

We also have to consider too, that Massa became faster than Kimi later on  Massa is not necessarily as battle hardy in the actual races as Kimi.. but he was quicker overall. Anyway.. Alonso and Hamilton are my two favourite drivers but I too have never really seen Alonso outright Dominate another Really fast driver so I have some doubts if he can do that much better than Kimi at Ferrari.
