Trulli is one of the best qualifiers in F1 and what can he do with the lotus?
Glock,Kovalainen ,Trulli are well educated in what is needed from Team and car and still the impression they can make is ... limited.
to dream of a driver rocketing HRT in front og Virgin and Lotus this year in speed
is simply dreaming these are movable targets and these teams do have a development programme going on ,not looking at how and with whom they could develop .
Alex Wurz, one of the best development drivers out there
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.
They should do a STR style multiple driver shootout on a Friday session. Then they could get input from multiple talented drivers AND pick the best one of the bunch. Win/win for them.
They could do this every Friday, not like they have any big secrets to withhold from other teams to worry about.
Any tester worth his salt would be trying their best to give the best feedback. At worst each driver would gain valuable experience and a chance at a full time job.
Is there anything in the rules to keep a team from trying out any driver they want with a super license in a practice? I know the team needs to name their official reserve drivers, but can anyone test any time?
Before I do anything I ask myself “Would an idiot do that?” And if the answer is yes, I do not do that thing. - Dwight Schrute
As silly as you are being, I would imagine he would have no hesitation about sharing any Renault secrets these days, and HRT can use anything they can get their hands on.

as I see it there is a big problem for inexperienced drivers to get started in F1 with the testing regulations
at the moment there are 3 test sessions ; how about if the regulations were changed so that during the first session only drivers of limited experience were allowed , so newbies with a seat would be allowed as well as test /novice drivers , but otherwise no race drivers
btw , trulli may be a great qualifier ..but who said he is a great development driver ?
to the optimist a glass is half full ; to the pessimist a glass is half empty ; to the F1 engineer the glass is twice as big as it needs to be
What about hiring Alonso for a few Fridays? The team could use the 6 tenths
On a more serious note, I think really the best car developers out there right now are probably Rubens and Freddielonso, but they've all got more secure drives in more competitive teams.
