I just divided the new points by 2.5 to convert 25 for a win to the old 10 points

The new points system is pretty much identical to the old in terms of the RELATIVE difference between the points for 1st 2nd 3rd etc. The only novelty is extending the points scoring positions down to 10th place. It did suprise me when drivers like Jenson Button commented on how much difference they thought the new points system would make at the start of the season. May be drivers don't concern themselves with it until the sharp end of the season, when the mathematical permutations come in to play.
Could someone identify why Rosberg is so much worse off under the old system. Is it all the 5th, 6th and 7th places he's had that get more points (relatively) in the new system?
