The shortening of the track wasn't punished, because several drivers have done that earlier in Qualifying and Free Practice without the stewards noticing it. AMS says, Ferrari has peached on him.
Totally not the same. Vettel went for an unusual race line. Alonso didn't even see him. Beside I'm fine with penalizing Alonso for that if you must, 2 wrongs don't make a right: your argument is illogical.
There was no need for penalties in both cases. Vettel did exactly what many drives do at the starts. He defended his position by choosing to take the right side of the track. He stuck to this plan and did not change direction. It was JB who committed to overtake to the right and did not back off when he saw Vettel's defensive move. Besides, "push off track" has any meaning of the car are side by side. In this case, JB was way back Vettel.

According to the bbc, there's reports that some could be coming in for new tyres after just 5laps or so....

Generally I don't care about what people say. I have to be clear with myself. When everything goes well, people celebrate you, when you make mistakes people criticize you.

BBC is quoting 0.7s of a performance gap between the option and prime

Depending on the rate of deg experienced on the options it will certainly be a factor...

The pits entrance and exit are going to be interesting to watch....hopefully everyone gets it right....

I think the exit isn't TOO bad of a factor. I think if the guy at pit exit, and the guy going into Turn 1; get things right; then things should be alright. However; the pit entry would be interesting if someone is nose to tail in Turn 17

Interesting! Karun says the Korean guys swept the track last nights so there isn't really a dirty side. They do that in Singapore as well

Okay, start is in 9 minutes. This should be mightily thrilling!

Anyone has a working BBC stream (my local commentators suck)?
