Wow.. The mercs are looking consistent but certainly not the fastest.. and the Lotus is actually looking pretty good.

Then again its hard to know what setups they are each on. But look at Webber's timings. The most consistent. Probably the least degradation.

Hmm Not Good, Not Good.. :s
Althought I think almost EVERYONE has a tyre issue..:s

Nico Rosberg warns Mercedes has major tyre problems in Bahrain despite topping practice
Nico Rosberg played down his chart-topping form in the second free practice session in Bahrain, cautioning that Mercedes' tyre overheating issues are 'probably the worst they have been'.

Mercedes struggled with both tyre degradation and issues switching the Pirellis on in the first two races of 2012, but appeared to make a huge leap in China as Rosberg took a commanding maiden Formula 1 victory from pole position.

The German built on that by setting the fastest time in practice two at Sakhir, but he was quick to downplay the significance of his lower fuel run.

"It has been a good day - it's nice to be quickest on low fuel, but as we know anyway the car is good on lower fuel," he explained.

"We have to analyse things. In general, conditions are probably the worst they have been here with the tyres overheating.

"We learned a lot and we are looking much better than maybe we would have thought. But we need to see where we are. We are having to make changes because out there it's very unusual - conditions are very tough."

His Mercedes stablemate Michael Schumacher said that issues with the tyres would improve, and were at least shared by everyone along the pitlane.

"The tyres are a big issue because they are just going away like nothing but it's the same problem for everybody," he added. "It will improve a bit. Let's see how many tyres we are going to need in the race."

I think smoke and mirrors, Nico seems like he's trying not to get ahead of himself and playing down what seems to be genuine pace with tyre wear that us no worse than anyone else's.

WOW. Just Wow. Mercedes' Long RUns look very good. No idea about Fuel Load. But they look very strong & least degradation or most consistency among all teams

In the German translation/original it more sounds like that, there in Bahrain, tyre degradation is worse then it has been anywhere else. This in fact is correct for all teams though. I don't think that comment is about relative pace. Just the overall situation..

The more I read those statements of Rosberg, the more I think he's a douche....even if the problems were real, you wouldn't shout it out always. MSC is way more bearable....

I hope this race will be the place where MSC shows his newly gained tire saving skills and wins that frickin race with Rosberg at P10 or so.

My impression from FP2 is that Rosberg is still faster. Certainly not by the margin the live timing showed because Michael was held up. But he is still faster and I would think that also applies to the race. But I can be wrong.

Michael was 2 tenths quicker than Rosberg in S1. I hope he can carry that speed all the way through his Q3 lap.

The kind-on-tyres RB8 & E20 could be in for very good results on this track. Maybe long-stint specialist Perez in the C31, too. I just hope the Mercs can still mix it up at the top despite their tyre anxieties.

I wouldn't call him names but I certainly think he could show more patience and restraint. His team gave him a winning car last race... something even he did not expect. Now coming to Bahrain knowing that there were tyre issues with the car and seeing that everybody else are having the same issues he needs to calm down and keep a positive front.

I hope Michael manages to finish this race.

Well, I prefer it straight forward like he said it. And don't get me wrong, although I wouldn't say that I dislike NR but I certainly don't like him and I certainly like MS. What many were complaining at the end of pre season testing was that Mercedes is not step forward and that whatever team was saying was rhetoric carried over from past years.
Secondly, what NR said was manipulation of words. I think he was generally referring to the high level of degradation at Sakhir compared to previous tracks.

And am I the only one who thinks that certain elements in media try to exaggerate Mercedes tyre problems and they also try to manipulate words to look NR better than MS.
