Anyway, how can you say for sure that failure of CDG wing can't cause catastropy?
I think I CAN say for certain that the CDG wings will become projectiles if either of the rear tyres fail. Carbon shatters under those kind of impact forces. A flailing tyre is going to destroy the wing quite easily. We cannot forget what a simple flat spot on Kimi's tyre did to his entire suspension last year. Also, the suspension breaks to the rear of the car, so if the suspension breaks it will also take the CDG wing with it. Bottom line, there's going to be alot more shattered carbon on the track.
The problem is the placement of the CDG wing. It could probably be put on the sidepods without a problem. But that would be an even uglier car. Either that, or we need carbon-splinter proof tyres.
