2014 Engine testing ... or not ....

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Wouldn't they be able to fine tune drivability to a greater extent by having it mounted in a chassis? I would think it would save them some time come the first test.

Yes mostly because why would Ferrari go the the trouble while risking the embarrassment (getting caught) releasing an odd video of a car with a radical sounding engine running around the track right at this moment when the entire world wonders what's up with Ferrari and their F1 engine? This combined with the just stated facts that Ferrari has had the time, and should be ready to now to begin testing in earnest. I think it's absolutely real and even my wife, who really has no interest in F1 at all, thought it sounded outstanding. An entire grid sounding like that would be like hearing a choir of turbojet planes performing a flyby. Bring it.

Has anybody mentioned the "Track Test"-bar on Renault's schedule beginning NOV/DEC 2013. I wonder if they really do this track tests or not.

Montezy stated that Ferrari are looking at Le Mans with a car based on the LaFerrari. So perhaps this is what they were testing. Engines are similar tho.

-why is (1) so large ? (for an 'F1' airbox)
-why are (2) so big ?
-is (3) an exhaust outlet ?
-what is (4) for ?
-what's (5) ? reminds me of an LMP car nose

And what car is that? doesnt look exactly like a LaFerrari... I didnt follow Ferrari's latest productions though...

its the test mule with further modification, possibly killing two birds with one stone in testing the f1 engine with ideas for lmp but maybe it just needs downforce added to simulate the load/drag of the F1 car and the cutouts for airflow have changed for the specific cooling requirements, the other exhaust locations just havent been deleted im guessing
