Drives can not accept situations like this one, it has been a very risky moment where Button could have been seriously injured.

Why exactly? Because of a loose drain cover being improperly secured? #-o #-o
The issue does not manifest itself at the speed of road cars. Road cars having "excessive downforce" or not is quite irrelevant as normal traffic speed would not allow a drain cover to be sucked loose.
Oh man, sorry. I totally missed the "road" part of the sentence.

Maybe you missed the discussion about road cars with downforce some time ago. I agree for usual speeds it is irrelevant. And for the speeds it becomes relevant, it becomes dangerous at the same time. So better optimize road cars for drag or for aesthetics ;-)

Well not necessarily: I did follow that topic, but not the whole of it. Anyway, if the maximum allowed speed is there let's say 50 kmh, your aerodynamics are not going to produce enough downforce to get the drain cover loose. Neither are your aerodynamics going to be relevant.

Road cars in traffic aren't about speed anyhow. It's about safe speeds on which normal people with normal reaction time can cope with.

The moment sticky road tires and downforce on road cars will start sucking drain covers from the gutters, at 50km/h zones, we'll address that issue.

Don't think that will be the case. I think Button was traveling +100 km/h at that point. I don't think we have drain covers on highways on public roads if I'm not mistaken.

From Autosport forum:
I think it's only the apex kerb at T15, the right-hander out of the Swimming Pool, that has changed?

The kerb now runs alongside the barrier, whereas last year it looked like this:

That kerb wasn't there in 2014. Instead, I believe the barrier ran to that point:

They also included a kerb in the inside of tabac.

Ferrari absolutely nowhere in FP2 so far. Vettel damaged the car a minute ago. Looks like Mercs vs. Ricciardo.

The curb now hugs the barrier, the turn is distinctively more open imo.

Sky F1 boys saying this jack slip damage is a write off for the nose.
But, it's not actually part of the crash structure so there's no reason they couldn't run like this if they wanted to, right?

edit: he popped out for the practise starts so that answers my question.

Wow, Ricciardo looks very, very strong but I guess Mercedes is hiding some potential because the difference is too big.

TR as expected look very good, a close battle between Daniil and Carlos. Good.

Ferrrai nowhere and McLaren the same.

Yea I think Merc always sandbag a bit until Q3 but even so I don't think they are holding back that much to have a .8 diff!
