Practice starts of the Ferrari’s seemed very good too. Sprint race win for Leclerc is in the cards. To me Mercedes was looking quick too. But the track evolution makes it very hard to judge.

There is an apparent loophole related to tyre allocation with this sprint format, which explains why alpha tauri may have used 2 sets of softs today already..

If a team believes that it will not make it to the final part of sprint qualifying tomorrow (SQ3) then soft tyres that would be used for SQ3 can instead be used on Friday in the qualifying for the main grand prix. Essentially this means teams like Alpha Tauri or Alfa Romeo who are not expecting to make SQ3 on Saturday can use extra sets of softs in the more important session and sacrifice a small aspect of their sprint where they're unlikely to score points anyway
