I wasn’t expecting that pole, nor were most people who actually posted their expectation in this thread. But Max was the only one maximizing. Isn’t easy on this track as we have seen with almost everyone else.

Good for the race, hopefully Leclerc can overtake Norris on lap 1.

Can someone explain to me how it is possible for Hamilton, after such a good result in the third practice, to drop out already in Q2, did he change the car settings again after fp3,or is there another explanation?

He was on for Q3 but had a slide in second to last corner and lost a tenth or two, so he missed it.

Just to clarify though, he used a new set of tyres compared to Russell who did his time on used tyres. He don't get a pass for making a mistake, no driver will have done the perfect lap.

But but ferrari looks close! They might challenge! Bringing the fight!

…and that was quali…we know how race pace is.

I hope people start get feisty and we get some unpredictable SCs. I’m in it for the show at this point.

Sainz was on par for much of the final run, but went over the limit in T12(?) i think. Max rarely makes these mistakes anymore.
This pole had Ferrari written all over it.

Big improvements from RB since FP2, switching to smaller wing seems to have improved their balance as well as drag. Really big step was made in S3.
Thanks for the post! =D>

A simply lovely pole position from Verstappen and Red Bull-Honda. Seeing the cars pushed in qualifying at this circuit was quite interesting IMO.

Saw that too, was in the live feed, head on shot. You could see he wen’t a bit wide and had to compensate with aggressive throttle.

P3 on merit and p6 with a penalty?

Think that’s a bold statement to make at such a early time in the weekend

Sainz was on for pole, he made mistake in T10 that cost him 4 tenths.
