Williams FW36 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

not to scale at all.
I thought that there are no holes allowed in the floor, after the DDD got banned but I haven't checked the rules.

Are they running last years FW for comparison?

Steering wheel is very different for last year.

Actually it is new, as I was having trouble seeing the leading edge profile of the low wing. Also, the soft focus, or "vignetting" as it is called by design professionals is used to draw attention to the non-soft focus part of the image.

He kept the giant logo off the image, can you all stop picking on him now? It's unseemly.

Nope, that's a 2014 FW and they tested in already in 2013 during the young drivers day with Suzie Stoddart.

Don't know exactly what you talk about, but I just see some floor reflections on the sidepod...

Yeah, deleted the post. It's an optical illusion and a good one i dear say. Got me and a few others going for it  Regs wouldn't allow it.

Had this pic posted: http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/wp-content/u ... 014-12.jpg

If you look at Forza's first pic, that's a full 1800mm FW.

It's similar (probably the same) to one of the models they raced last season.

That looks like a reflection before the undercut.

Indeed.
2013 Force India (1800mm):

2014 Williams (1800mm):

2014 Ferrari (1650mm):

The Williams is using the one from Austin 2013, presumably to get correlation data and to validate their models of the rear-end aero:
If you can prove that your correlation works for two (quite different) cases of front wing, it is less likely that the accuracy is the result of fudge factors and approximations (and chance) and more likely that the model is accurate for all cases and therefore hopefully for future developments.
