Lewis on his first soft tyre lap, 0.16 down on max after sector 2, ends up 0.7 down after the back straight

Yup. Just the hairpin, the straight and chicane. 5 tenths lost. Could be poor top speed.

The straight is very bumpy, but because it's not as long the problem isn't that huge here.
Everyone should be able to reach acceptable levels.

Mercedes too twitchy. Going too deep in turn one.

Unless it happens later tonight
Charles already said it's something the team is still discussing.
On F1TV they said it is now confirmed he will be taking 10 place grid drop.
I don't know who confirmed it to them. Sky italy team doesn't know, and Charles did interview where he said they don't know yet.

Race sim times were good for Ferrari although of course it's too early.

Alonso really fast too, maybe a 2nd stint.

It might be a pattern of Alpine running light in free practices. They seem so threating then they flop come qualifying and the race.

Alonso did a normal kind of FP1 I think, while the top teams more approached it like FP2 due to the risk of rain later on. Pace was good, but I wouldn't count his stint as high fuel run.

in case it wasn't mentioned during coverage (on German Sky it was not): Tsunoda will start from the back of the grid due to an engine penalty. btw.

I don't know who confirmed it to them. Sky italy team doesn't know, and Charles did interview where he said they don't know yet.
I also heard them mention it. I believe it was Sam Collins. He said the FIA had confirmed it, but the docs that came out during FP1 only had LEC with a new ICE (3), MGU-H (3), MGU-K (3) and new CE (2), but no turbocharger.

Tsunoda was coming in with a 4th Turbo. Might have just been a misread by Sam, unless it's still not noted in the docs.

I think I heard it is confirmed by Ferrari camp, not FIA - but perhaps I misheard that. And I think it will be in FIA docs only after it is installed in the car, so after they leave boxes in FP2, FP3, etc.?
