I don't think they will lose sleep if that modification gives them a competitive advantage :)

Toyota trying their new front wing again, just like in Monaco. Numerous parts on the Toyota, if they run them all. New front wing, rear wing, diffuser, and front brake ducts.

Like Monaco, there seems to be lack of pics of the Toyota rear end. I could not find a better pic either.

It's interesting how much Toyota continues to evolve and develop it's diffuser. It looks like they have made it the maximum width with a more square profile to push a higher volume of air. The V-channel is similar to Brawn. I bet there is probably another deck there on top of that V-channel. They have also changed the spacing of the diffuser fins. The outer parts of the diffuser push much more air, and definitely those rear wing endplates work directly to extract air out to the sides from the diffuser. Very clever to use the rear wing like that, on top of the endplates also separating the airflow coming from the rear wheels and suspension.

The car looked quite planted in practice, and Toyota looks to have less grip and tire issues than other teams.

Finally, we have a close-up of the TF109 rear-end. Very interesting I must say. The outer sections of the diffuser are square in shape, but they curve outwards. Likely this is to direct some of the air at the endplate slits and out to the sides of the car. The curved sections also direct the airflow coming through the suspension along the floor right near the inner rear wheels.

The second deck portion on top is also more square in shape than before, and larger so it is also pushing more air, just like the first deck of the diffuser.

The endplates of course help separate the airflow for both the the inner wheel winglets and the diffuser, apart from pushing the air to the sides of the car.

I wondered why they changed the center section until I saw that parking garage of a difuser

What is that lump right in front of the wing? Doesn't seem very areo efficient.

As mturda said, it's the gearbox and some suspension, or rather the tight bodywork packaging around the gearbox and suspension. At the beginning of the season it was actually a bigger hump, but Toyota has tightened up the bodywork there. It's not ideal for airflow, but not a whole lot they can do given the car is designed like that.

I was under the understanding that the "bulge" was to make room for Toyota's KERS package... perhaps not. I find it hard to believe its reserved for housing the gearbox, as the rest of the cars do not seem to be "burdened" with a bulge of their own...

I doubt it, if it is space reserved for KERS, that would be somewhat poor placement of KERS in terms of weight distribution. I still believe it is for the gearbox and suspension, as that part has been redesigned to tighter bodywork. I also doubt it's KERS because Pascal Vasselon months ago vaguely mentioned where their KERS unit would hypothetically be placed on the car, and in front of the rear wing was not the place. Furthermore Toyota said that they need to use a different chassis if they run KERS, which means it would be silly for them to "reserve" space for KERS on the current chassis they are using.

Other cars also have bulkier rear end packaging, so there is not as much pronounced visible "bulge" as on the Toyota.

Look carefully at the angle of the diagonal suspension members, they extend right to where the "bulge" is. Toyota could be running different rear suspension geometry than other teams too. I think it is more suspension than it is gearbox.
