Great work LegendaryM, that is some impressive CAD skills, especially for your age! Keep it up.

Quite a large update:

A brand new front wing, inspired by McLaren's:

and a slightly revised diffuser with semi-circle channels coming from the inlet, again inspired by the Mclaren

Another update - revised exhausts which exit the car horizontally:

yeah! That car is AWESOME! It's beautiful! Now you should make CFD simulations, or make it legal for next season. I am amazed! Could you possibly put tyres on that second picture (the overview of car) to make it more realistic?

Great work! =D>

and please put LegendaryM-F1technical livery on it

-very cool - you should be proud of what you achieved already, many thanks for sharing

Unfortunately my computer isn't powerful enough to do cfd simulations on this car. And i've tried to add a livery to it but i dont know how to.
I'm gonna save up all the updates im doing now and release them all at once, which will be the 2010 car.

Edit: here's another overview picture, with perspective added

yeah! that's great!
it looks cool.
I think, that you should put a file with your car and somebody would make a simulation. But is it possible to make a CFD simulation on every hardware but with a time? If you have a weak computer, you should wait a lot of time (because it is a 3-dimensional model) and once again wait, and wait... Then you should get results. But if you do not want to turn on your computer during 1 or 2 days, just put a file with your car (probably in .cad).
How to make a livery? I think, that you should make a net/mesh (I do not know how to say it in English). In solidworks, there should be an option to take it into pieces (for example, if you take cube into pieces, you will get 6 squares). If you get a mesh, you need to import it to a graphic programme (like Photoshop) and colour chosen figures (or put already prepared banner, logo etc.)

Generally speaking, this car is great. Now you should make it legal and efficient.

Btw. How did you start to make this car in SW. You started from nothing, you had a base or you were modelling it?

I have made it in solid edge, which is similar to solid works put i dont think i can cut it into individual faces (pieces as u say). When i modelled it i just started from nothing, and designed the chassis and nose first and then worked out from there, but thats probably not the best way to design it

Re: My F1 car

and what about putting ready graphics on it? I haven't use that programmes yet, so I can't tell if there is a possibility to do that.
I want to make sth like this (check your private messages on the top of a page) and I thought to make own sketches and import them and start modelling (like in 3DS MAX but I don't know if there is a possibility to start modelling in CAD programme). I don't know if I can import lines to the software (maybe using tablet?) and the programme would automatically make a model. I've only heard that it is possible, but not from the good source. I want to get to know which one is better and more possible to do, because I want to start as soon as possible.

If you would make those updates for 2010 season, I would like to help in analysing CFD results. Maybe you could send it to the chosen F1 team and share your work?

(BTW: which team do you like the most?)

Fantastic and well developed car, love to see how that would perform in a CFD simulation.

Im still worried about the front camera mountings however. Its the only legality of the car im worried about at the moment.

UV mapping to texture it i think? I am not sure how solidworks does it, but use the help file and look for texture mapping maybe.
I like the car, looks like a lot of blood and sweat. =D>

Try to export it to Maya or 3d studio.. Then create A U-V texture map which is simply an assortment of different surfaces laid out like pieces of fabric over a table. Save it as a picture, then open the picture in Photoshop and place your textures of the uv points picture. Then You import your new texture map into Maya/3D studio and place it on the car. It should line up perfectly if you take the time to make your uv map. ( it's like cutting pieces of fabric to make a jacket, except the car is the jacket and you are selecting surfaces from the car that can be "flattened" and laid out in easy to work with pieces).

I used to make cars for Grand theft auto III when I was in high school. but your models are quite impressive considering you used a CAD program. Mine were just boxy looking, made with a free polygon modelling program called Z modeler. I wasn't as skilled as you are back then. I then moved to maya. then I only started using CAD in university. Even now because I mostly drew lame machine parts at school, I have forgotten how to make nice surfaces like the ones you have made.

Sauber. That'd be a good one to go with. New team, new livery...possibly.

Re: My F1 car

yeah i have worked out how to add textures now, but dont expect anything too amazing livery wise. I am unsure of whether to release my 2010 car in the next few days, or wait 2 weeks as i have gcse science exams soon and add some more minor things and release it later.

BTW, regarding my favourite team, i think next season i'll be supporting schumacher and ferrari
