And just one question I have, why don't they do away with ties in soccer games? They could maybe do a shootout type thing like the NHL does or just continue play. Just seems lame that so many games just end in a tie...or even worse a 0-0 tie.
they get away with ties because its only been the group matches so far and they get a point for a draw.
they continue playing/do penalty shootouts in the knockout stage which starts tommorrow (last 16) its bound to bring more drama to the game
Ah, gotcha. Shootouts are the most exciting parts of NHL games in my opinion, but I'd imagine in soccer they aren't quite as dramatic since it seems the goalie has almost no chance of making saves, at least compared to how small the net is in hockey. Still would be a lot better than a tie though. I was glad when the NHL finally did away with those.
Here is my tip for the next round, bolded teams will win.
26 June 2010 Uruguay v Korea Republic edit result 2:1

United States v Ghana

Germany v England
27 June 2010 Argentina v Mexico Soccer City
28 June 2010 Netherlands v Slovakia
28 June 2010 Brazil v Chilie
29 June 2010 Paraguay v Japan
29 June 2010 Spain v Portugal
I can't make up my mind about Germany vs England. Some people here told me Germany will win that one but I'm afraid the English will eventually gel into a functioning team just for the purpose of beating Germany. So I will not make a prediction on that one.

Formula One's fundamental ethos is about success coming to those with the most ingenious engineering and best ..............................organization, not to those with the biggest budget. (Dave Richards)
So now we will see who has the most power left. If both teams are finished they will both try to hold for the golden goal shoot out.
Edit : now 2:1 for Ghana

You dont need to watch the english, all you need to know is they drew with Usa, Drew with Algeria and just about bet Slovenia 1-0 (they were running for the corner by the end of it). I.E. Theyre S##t! [quote]
excuse me for this:
England's going home, they're going home, they're going. England's going home.
