Circuit of The Americas today announced that it has been declared ready to host the 2012 F1 United States GP by Charlie Whiting, who directs racing, safety and technical matters for the FIA. Whiting visited the Central Texas racing circuit as part of a scheduled pre-race inspection and approved the circuit for “Grade 1” status, hence appropriate to host an F1 race.

Covered by Visa then or how would it work in practice, money locked in until the event is underway?
In the UK, Visa cover all purchases over £100 if they are defective or mail order goods don't turn up. It's a useful way to guard against a company going bust when you have to pay in advance, for example you'd get a refund if a holiday company went bust after you paid but before you took your holiday.
Huge storm warnings for the Dallas, Austin area,,the whole center to Texas actually.
Hope that Mother of all Cranes doesn't get blown over or everything sucked up by a tornado.
Strong winds, isolated tornadoes and large hail are possible this afternoon and tonight. Flash flooding could also occur as storms continue through Tuesday.

I had an interesting comment figured out for that weather-phenomena strad, but I will refrain from posting it when it surely would be deleted with the current moderation-policy.
"I spent most of my money on wine and women...I wasted the rest"
Eh, just isolated tornadoes. That means they're all puny and stuff. We don't worry about tornadoes here until someone starts yelling "RUN!" They're getting it a bit worse down south than we are here in Dallas.
I kinda figured the thunder storms might be more of a real problem. U.S. weather service says up to 7 inches of rain in places. That would make for some huge standing water around the site, and a good lightning strike would light up that crane.

Construction in Texas is always ready for this kind of stuff. There will definitely be some delays, but probably nothing that wasn't already considered.
COTA brass went to Melbourne & will go to other GPs in an effort to gather the best ideas to handle crowds on race day. Anyone besides me think it's a little late for something like this? Shouldn't this have been going on last season?

Looks like those two broke up.
I wish we'd get some here at the house, but at least the bulk of the rain is falling across the Highland Lakes, which are still very low from the drought.
I've so appreciated the updates. I'm in Alabama, so I want make Austin this year(unless Bhall buys me a ticket and shelters me from the Texas heat) but I'm totally thrilled at the prospect of America with an F1 race on a proper circuit(Indy was FAR FAR from a proper circuit). At least I'll get to see one of he first few races ever for the new Indycar.(Barber)Alabama actually has a strong motorsport scene if you include dirt surfaces(2 wheels or four)
But i'd rather be watching a GP in Austin than a local dirttrack race. But, unfortunately I'm afflicted with anythingthatburnsfuel diseaase.

tornadoes are a way of life in the midwest or south, but hey I've only lost one house in my life.(two out of three ain't bad)

He says this as light hearted as my sister down on the Texas gulf and relatives in Louisiana.
They think nothing of hurricanes and big weather..I'm from Phoenix, a bad dust storm is as big as it gets.
To stay on topic, I hope it bypasses Austin and doesn't slow things down.
